Story Elements
Words to know:
Protagonist - the leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text.
Antagonist - a person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary.
Setting - the place and time of the story
Exposition - the first part of the plot; characters, setting & situation is revealed
Rising Action - main part of the story, moves plot along, complications start to rise
Climax - the most exciting or intense part of the story for the protagonist, the OMG!, usually the turning point
Falling Action - events that follow the climax and leads to the resolution
Resolution - the end of the story, loose ends of the plot are tied up, remaining questions are answered, conflicts are resolved
Flash back - interruptions that writers do to insert past events, in order to provide background or context to the current events of a narrative
Foreshadowing - When you want to let people know about an event that is yet to occur; a teaser
